Plot Ideas Post

Part of the great fun of dressing rooms (and RP in general) is when massive amounts of ridiculous shenanigans happen. Each month YDR will sponsor an event or two (to be determined) where the island just goes . . . nuts.
So here is our question to you: what events would you like to see? We're collecting ideas and will make them into a monthly poll. Classic plots like bodyswaps are great fun (and I personally always endorse that one particularly), but please feel free to suggest others, as well--more unusual plots are a nice change from the classics.
Remember however, while you can always make suggestions below, they won't be included in the current vote.
The Current Voting page is here.
Of course, you can also use this page to send in any questions concerning the current set up for events as well; if you have complaints or suggestions to make, do that here!
I HAVE IDEAS
Self-Run Body Swap -- Basically, instead of a muse swapping bodies with someone else's muse, they instead swap with another character from their own universe. In other words, the Mun will be temporarily playing another character... Through the same account.
For example--I take Shaman AU Crow, and temporarily play as though he swapped with his world's Yuusei (who's basically Yuusei with glasses tbh). The muse they swap with doesn't belong to another mun--only to you!
Leaking Soul Rooms -- For the duration of the event, the island is replaced in some areas by the muse's soulroom, or, should the mun wish it, some sort of dream-scape or memory of theirs. Perhaps the change is only scenic, or perhaps certain actions trigger views of memories or dreams and the like--that part is entirely up to the mun (Though it'd be good to check with who you thread with before doing that sort of thing.)
Time Warp! -- Your muse is suddenly either de-aged, or aged further! So either they're suddenly an adult (or older!), or they've regressed to childhood. This could be a physical change only, or even only a mental change (the mind thinks its four or twelve or fifty, but the body is yet eighteen.). Depends on what everyone wants, really.
no subject
The Birds -- Thousands of birds suddenly flock all over the island for no reason whatsoever. They block roadways, shit on every window of every car, and randomly swoop down to attack unprovoked. They'll even fly down the chimney to try to get into your house! At the end of the plot, they suddenly leave with no explanation for why they came or what they wanted.
The Rainbow Virus -- It starts with just a cough, a sniffle, or an awkwardly loud fart. The next thing you know, rainbow-colored goo is oozing out of your mouth, nose, tear ducts, and ass (but not necessarily simultaneously). Within 48 hours, your skin breaks out in a rash of multicolored polka dots ranging in size from that of a pinhead to the diameter of a US quarter. Pups who become infected with it can spread it to other pups and it is highly contagious. The virus is airborne, remains communicable for the first four days after infection, and runs its course over about a week. The rash can take up to a month to fully heal.
Glitter, Make It Rain -- The island volcano erupts--you guessed it--GLITTER! Sparkly ash falls all over everywhere.
Sex Swap: Extreme Edition -- Also known as the "scare the shit out of your pups when they go to pee in the morning" plot, a twist on your classic genderbend shenanigans! Pups wake up with different anatomy than what they had the night before, though said anatomy may not be fully male or female--or even human, for that matter! [cue Yubel wondering what everyone is so freaked out about]

My idea I'd had a while back was that peoples' ka/shadows start appearing somehow. Or maybe just a matter of...
Whenever anyone duels, some of the monsters end up sticking around afterwards. ("Shoo, back in your card!" "But I don't *want* to.."
hang on, i got some more dumb ideas
Here There Be Dragons: Dragon-type monsters start appearing all over the island. No one summoned them, no one commands them, and no one's sure why they insist on hoarding cards and roosting around the volcano.
A Duel Monsters Tournament: Why the fuck not? This is a YGO roleplay community.
Bees! Bees Everywhere!: Self-explanatory. Placido and any insect duelists should be thrilled.
Stupid Hair Plot: Any character with a reasonable hairstyle will suddenly have main protag levels of weirdness on their head. Characters whose hair is already ridiculous will find themselves looking... normal. They may not even be recognizable by characters they've known all their lives! Alternatively, their hair gets even weirder (assuming that's possible).
ETA: I did say they were dumb ideas.

This can go forward to the next event voting or whatever.

Costume Ball! - i was thinking maybe we could do this for the week of halloween whether there's another event going or not? maybe? we should do something for halloween it's the best
ANYWAY two options: 1) costumes & announcements appear in shops, there's a party for everyone on Halloween, everything is great; or 2) costumes, party, but when you put on a costume, you think you are whatever the costume is until it comes off/for a set period of time
A trifectia of horror plots for Halloween!
Zombie Apocalypse: You know the drill. The walking dead roam the island. Their fluids are toxic, and their bites are lethal and contagious - to everyone. [Taking out a zombiefied Barian sounds... fun.] The thing is, however, that while the bite will kill you in roughly three to five days, you'll still find yourself in Old Momentum in 24 hours. Your corpse will still roam the streets, but you'll be fine. On November 1st they will all spontaneously die. Just don't let them get to Old Momentum...
Ghostpocalypse: This one is similar to the above, but inspired by Fatal Frame/Project Zero rather than Resident Evil. The island is cast into an
eternalmonth-long night, and ghosts, visible to all, roam the area. They may even be known to the muses, but that's not a requirement. Some want to help. Most want to kill you, and if they do, you'll become a ghost as well. Only, unlike in the previous idea, the pup will stay that way until the end of the month. They can't be fought with conventional weapons, and are only damaged by bright light. Again, on November 1st, they'll all die with sunrise.Welcome to Silent Island - [or maybe Island Hill?] Silent Hill inspired. Same mechanics as above: Monsters roaming the streets that will die on November 1st, want to kill anyone they encounter. If you die you'll revive as normal but without any items you had on hand before the apocalypse started, including weapons. The whole island is covered in a thick mist, and the only indication monsters are nearby are static on whatever electronic devices you have, dueling related included. However, these monsters seem to be based on the pup's background and memories. What one person sees might not be what another sees. After all, "they look like monsters to you?"

This isn't a time warp - they simply temporarily get amnesia of some kind.
I HAVE JUST ONE PLOT IDEA RIGHT NOW OK
Oops.

Every Chromosome is a Hand-Me-Down: [I really wanted to do a Weird Al pun but I'm too lazy to do in-depth research] Muses have the ability to create clones! Clones limited only to the mun's ability to play them! Clone muses act and think like the original one, and there is no difference between a clone-muse and the original, except that a clone will 'pop' a la Naruto's clones upon being killed, and their memories reabsorbed by all of the other copies of that character. If the original muse dies, all the clones will die as well, with the original muse regaining their memories after their revival. They're treated more as extensions of the original character than separate ones. At the end of the month, they'll all disappear, with exceptions if the mun wishes. Also, some muses might retain this power after the end of the month, abet a more limited version...
And Now, the Weather: Muses find a working but abandoned radio station and proceed to take it over. Hijinks and Night Vale jokes ensue. If the muses aren't driven out by the end of the month [for whatever reason] it becomes a permanent part of the Island. Further events may occur involving or because of it.
Back to you Jin: Just like the above, but with a TV station instead! 8D
Lights, Camera, Action! [Part 1????]: A muse/group of muses or a very pushy NPC decide to make a movie, and spends the whole month bullying everyone they can into participating and preparing for the filming at a later time or outright trying to shoot it, depending on what muns decide.
Winter Wonderland: It's snowing! At first its just a light sprinkling, but as the month goes on, it gets heavier and more violent. By the end of the month, the whole island is covered in snow or ice - even the desert! At the end of the month, it all disappears... Or...
The Big Melt: The island is flooded! Buildings are covered! And... floating... And those ships weren't there before, were they? Too bad they can't leave the island even though it's now UNDERWATER... The Big Melt becomes the Big Flush at the end of the month. Sure to be quite a sight.
Kaiju Attack!: Heartland City and the vicinity is now synonymous with Tokyo in the eyes of every Godzilla rip-off in the area. Good thing someone finds the giant robots that have been under the island the whole time... Pity said robots need two compatible pilots to operate...
SIE SIND DAS ESSEN UND WIR SIND DIE JAEGER: Exactly what you're thinking - it's just like the above, now with 100% more naked genital-less humanoids! 8D And less giant robots. Possibly. Oh yeah, and of course the whole revival thing stands. Enjoy getting eaten by things over and over and over again!
There's probably more but I think I'll stop here for now. ^^

Even applies to disguises, recent power-ups, or previously forgotten wardrobe choices if the mun feels particularly bored.
Future plot event idea-
Ideas and details of plans are up for discussion.
THE ISLAND HAS FOUND YOU GUILTY
For the duration of the event, pups aren't able to go outside of the prison - it might have an outside training area, but that would be about it.
Pups would be divided into cell blocks - which would actually be really useful if you wanted to have character A getting more CR with character B, C, D etc. This would only affect where they're sleeping and who with, really.
Muses' main 'crimes' will be written out on a tag, similar to a 'Hello, My Name Is...' but it'd have their name (as given) and crime. For instance: [Kiryu Yukari: Attempted Manslaughter]. If you want, you could put numbers (people affected, etc.
Shenanigans can ensue, since this is really just a change in situation and no real punishments would take place if you did something against the 'rules', so to speak.

And since not everyone is crushing on someone, some characters might just end their sentences with something weird and misplaced when talking to a friend or someone they care about. (Think Jarvis in Iron Man 3, and blueberries.)

Screens: People are trapped in a building and posed with a challenge, which must be fullfilled in order to escape. This challenge concerns a precious 'thing' of theirs, which they must retreive. Other muses may still interact with these people, even infiltrating the building to lend assistance. Further details of the event will be released when it begins, but there is, much like the previous 'wide scale event', a 'Host'... ...And the Host will be quick to warn the participants that not everyone there is friendly to their cause...
I Ain't Fraid of No Ghost: A lighter Halloween event. The ghosts are back, but this time, the island is prepared. Who ya gonna call? GHOST BUSTERS! By sucking the ghosts into these specially designed tanks, you remove them from the island AND force anyone who turned into a ghost to respawn as a human. Similar rules as the first ghost event apply.
Minor:
Victorianna: It's a steampunk event. Grab your geared tophats and bulletproof corsets!
Groundhog's Day Loop: Everyone is trapped in a time loop. That would be bad enough, but they're all stuck in separate time loops, so while you might be stuck on the 1st of the month, when you talk to your best friend, they're stuck on the 15th. At the end of the month, time straightens out, with all memories organized accordingly [though the fact that the day repeated isn't forgotten either].
Bad, Bad Board Games: Jumangi event. This is why everyone plays card games folks.
Everybody Must Get Stoned: Sorry, not in the pleasant way. Starting from the bottom, the entire island is petrified. This includes animate beings if given the chance. Yes, even if they started out as stone. The island goes back to normal at the end of the month, like it never even happened.
DUELS. IN. SPAAAAAAACE: The island is now a space station, with certain places being similarly changed, and other staying the same for 'historical accuracy'. Interesting to note that the ocean still remains, in a sense...

....
During this event, all inhibitions--or maybe just a handful, depending--are completely let go. Anything holding muses back from enjoying themselves and their dreams are lost to the wind for the entire month (or however long mun's decide on), and the results will vary incredibly--after all, everyone loves a bit of fun! ...Just that the definition of fun might vary.

EVERY NPC is out to get you so you better run. They'll either literally cut your face off or absorb it, leaving you blank, faceless, and unable to control your own identity, screaming in the darkness without a mouth. NPCs will walk and talk with the captured player's face... For the rest of the month regardless of death.

Oh so you thought that dark space under your bed making noises was just your imagination, huh? Tough luck, too bad. Time to face your worst fears.
Let's just hope it doesn't take you too long to figure out these things can be defeated by laughing at them if you're unfamiliar with Harry Potter lore, huh?

I finally decide to add a couple of event ideas myself.
Who Am I again?: For some reason your muse takes a serious knock to the head and has now forgotten EVERYTHING. They are at the mercy of those they meet to fill in their memories. the catch is, the island will strongly tempt others to suggest FALSE memories.

Secret can be anything from something innocuous like 'I was the one who stole that ramen'/just plain embarrassment to something that could cause serious disputes. Or both. Both is good.

One with the Sky: Muses gain the ability to fly! Maybe they grow wings, or they discover they can float, or they're reunited with a partner that grants them this ability. At the mun's discretion, the gained abilities may linger after the month's end.
Pirates - Hoist the colors or man the canons, pirates have set their eyes on the island! Muses may find themselves recruited [as in 'wake up in strange place with no idea what's going on'] by either the pirates or the navy that sprang up overnight to fight them off. Or, they could be forced to choose sides by other means - it's a pirate event folks, we all know what pirates do: kidnapping, drinking, booty hunting, and more.
In-[y]uya-sha! - aka welcome to feudal japan! everyone wakes up with a new job and set of clothing as per island setting changes, but some may change species too, turning into yokai. Actual yokai will probably spend this event laughing at everyone.
Standard Fairytale Reward - [oh this one is kinda questionable/skeevy near the end isn't it] on the first of the month, muses awaken in a different place, surrounded by NPCs proclaiming them of a status they didn't have before - princes and princesses especially, although they're not limited to those roles. For the first week, the muses adjust to this new lifestyle and then are kidnapped, either by the island's intentions or another muse[s]. Reasons can vary but tend to follow fairytale logic, with a common one being that they're abducted for marriage. Following this mass abduction, the head NPCs declare that any who rescues one of the abducted 'royals' will gain their hand in marriage! The rest of the month is spent trying to achieve or deny, well, the standard fairytale reward. Muses successfully rescued by other muses are then declared engaged, with a wedding date set. Muses not rescued from NPCs find themselves on the first of the new month in bed/'bed' like it never even happened. However, muses not rescued from other muses - specifically muses that were declared by the NPCs to have marriage in mind - will also have a wedding date set, whether the two like it or not.
Atlantis - The island is underwater! And... everyone can breath just fine. Literally no different than normal, physics seems to be fairly normal too, its just - everything is underwater. Sea current 'highwaves' flow in and around the island's many regions and allow for faster travel. These highways may stay after the end of the month, surely to the delight of the many seabound muses that call the island's coastal waters home.

Since this alone doesn't automatically mean the new deck would see play, this event would be an add-on to a Dueling Tournament or "Attack of the Duel Zombies".
no subject
Nightmare Wheel - Muses begin experiencing disturbingly realistic nightmares...which are indeed completely real, and can drag in anyone who happens to be passing at the time. The only way to escape is to either solve the problem at the heart of the nightmare, or wake the muse up, but good luck with either of those when you're in there with them.
Skill Swap - Muses switch powers with either someone else on the island, or someone from their home world. Ordinarily superpowered muses may find themselves normal squishy humans for the month, while normal ones might gain some unexpected (and possibly uncontrollable) new abilities.
no subject
They're both based on movies. So. Unimaginative names gogogo.
The Thing - Something extraterrestrial crashes on the island! ...Except it's a 'living virus'-style shapeshifter which will infect and assimilate you given half the chance, and you bet it's going to be using your loved ones' faces to get at you - it can become anyone it's assimilated. Assimilated muses will take on the abilities of the Thing but at the cost of being dominated by its will. They're probably aware enough to be inwardly horrified at assimilating their friends, but that's about it. The only way to kill them is with fire; normal weapons just plain ol' don't work, and anything that severs part of the body will only cause that body part to scuttle off and make another Thing. So, you know, good luck if you care about literally anyone else on the island, because they might be an alien shapeshifter out to assimilate you. And these assimilations can be pretty damn horrifying - the creature fusing its body to yours as it absorbs you, for example.
Eight-Legged Freaks - Giant spiders escape from...somewhere, and make their home in a shiny new cave system under the island, in some abandoned buildings, so on and so forth. You might stumble across trapdoor spider-style traps or webs above ground, except these things are huge, and the spiders are going to be dragging people off and webbing them up for eventual eating. Victims can be saved by their friends in this interim, but look out - if you go into the nest, you won't just be having to avoid spiders. You'll have to be getting web off faces to actually identify anyone (or just look at their hair which is probably poking out...assuming they have no like-haired doubles down there) and if any of them have already been bitten but not eaten, they might be rather spidery themselves. Or part-spidery, at least.
Feels-y things.
Littlest Pet Shop: So you wake up and for those that don't have their own animal companion? You now have the most perfect pet suited to you! The most perfect for being your new best friend for the month or driving you and everyone else bonkers. Either way, the two of you will be inseparable!

Plants that do bondage. That's it.

Super Kamen Rider Sentai Rangers - Monsters are attacking! Villains are plotting to conquer the Nexus! The island needs
teenagers with attitudemuses to band together and defeat the forces of evil! The Nexus
compelsinspires you to come together Super Sentai/Power Ranger style; be a lone wolf drifter that fights alone, or put aside differences in order to unite as a team of Kamen Riders. But of course, not all muses are destined to be on the side of good. Be granted great power for opposing these masked heroes...! (With the scale of storytelling this could become, could be considered a major event?)

Chicken Soup for the Soul: All food sold from NPC-run stores starts developing weird and wonderful side effects. Some might just tweak your emotional state (make you happy, sad, make you hungry or sleepy), but some might cause more serious (if temporary) changes in behaviour or personality, e.g. inverting moral alignments or ramping up a certain positive or negative trait to uncontrollable levels.
Mirror, Mirror: Any muse who owns or encounters a mirror during this month may potentially be dragged into a "mirror" of the DR island, the cities fraught with danger and despair and friends turned to villains. The main island cannot be returned to through the mirror you entered through and they're not necessarily in the same places (or even intact) in the mirror world, but you can communicate with other muses through the original mirror and hopefully talk one of them in to save your ass.

Relationflip: It's a relationship event! Regardless if it's friendship or romantic love, how you feel towards someone else does a complete 180. Suddenly boyfriends hate each other! Suddenly enemies are getting all cozy together! It can either affect both of the people involve or just one, but at the end of the month, but you remember all the horrible/mushy things you said/did to that person. Hopefully you didn't say or do anything particularly irredeemable...

YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND ME MUM/"It's not a phase"/whatever non ridiculous name the mods can come up with: Body modification event! Ever wondered what your character would look like with certain tattoos/piercings/scarring/etc? Got something appropriate to their canon or AU to mark them with? This is the month for anything from a new piercing or two to a new full-body tattoo and all combinations and permutations in-between, granted by the island with a remarkable lack of finicky healing problems (or maybe not, if you want to play that out). Some changes might even last past the end of the month.triple kurosaki suggesting combo

The second detail? The island can only grant wishes through chains of coincidences that tend to get increasingly improbable and ridiculous the longer the chain goes on (and thus can't grant anything that would be outside the realm of possibility there), and the island will be spawning some stranger things than usual in an attempt to facilitate these coincidences (or in some cases, quote unquote "coincidences"). Want a sandwich? Better be prepared for that dog-walker to trip...then the dog to get loose...then have it steal the sandwich...and for that NPC walking by to spill gravy on you to lure the dog there...

Clouds will pop up randomly, especially if a muse hasn't been affected by many, but if a question is asked of the muse that can be answered by a memory (any memory, including embarrassing and private ones), a cloud containing that memory will turn up.
